CWL Champs 2019 Day 3 Results [With Videos!]

The best 32 professional Call of Duty organizations have met up at Pauley Pavillion on the UCLA campus for the annual Call of Duty World League Championship. Players will be fighting for the $800,000 first place prize along with Championship rings.

Call of Duty heads into a new era as it transitions into the Call of Duty Global League with a franchising model. This weekend could help players find new homes headed into the 2020 season.

The third day of the event marked the beginning of the double-elimination bracket with the top 16 qualifying teams facing off for the notoriety that comes from winning a Call of Duty Championship.

Friday’s first match of bracket play was between Team Envy and Units, where the unsigned squad was able to deliver a 3-2 upset against the reigning Call of Duty World Champs. Team Envy’s loss would send them down to the loser’s bracket where they would be left to do or die. Unfortunately for Envy, the amatateur organization Singularity was able to finish their Championship run short. The reigning Champions would end with a 13th-16th placement and $25,000.

G FUEL-sponsored FaZe Clan’s first match of the winner’s bracket was against Reciprocity where there is already an underlying rivalry between siblings Matthew “Skrapz” Marshall of FaZe Clan and Bradley “wuskinz” Marshall from Reciprocity. In a surprise upset, FaZe Clan was sent down to the loser’s bracket due to a 3-1 loss. 

 

 

 

 

 

Later in the day, FaZe Clan would face off against 100 Thieves. Everybody would be on the edge of their seats as FaZe Clan would take a 2-0 lead giving the impression that another major upset was brewing. Instead, 100 Thieves took after their name and stole the win from under FaZe Clan’s fingers with a 3-2 reverse sweep. FaZe Clan would finish their run at Champs with a modest 13th-16th finish and $25,000 in their hands.

 

 

 

 

 

Team Heretics were able to secure a spot in the bracket thanks to a 2-1 pool play record. Their first match of the day was against OpTic Gaming who performed almost perfectly throughout their 3-0 pool play run. Even though the Spanish team was able to take one map away from The Greenwall, Team Heretics fell to the loser bracket with a 3-1 loss.

 

 

 

 

Heretics would face against another G FUEL-sponsored squad, Elevate. Both international teams met for an intense match that would decide who would move on. 

In an intense, back-to-back series, it was Elevate who walked away with the 3-2 win. Heretics would be sent home with a 13th-16th placement and $25,000.
